Association of Polytheist Traditions

Frey The Association of Polytheist Traditions [APT] is a non-profit organisation based in the UK. Most of us practise Reconstructed European Pagan Religions. But we welcome all polytheists, including those who adhere to 'world religions' and those who simply have personal relationships with individual gods.

Bit of History: We held our first AGM on the 9th of April 2005 at Lancaster University where we elected our committee and ratified our constitution. The second AGM was in Preston at University of Central Lancashire in May 2006, where we had our first conference. In 2007 we met at The Manchester Museum (guess which city that was in) and in 2008 in Birmingham Central Library. Click on conferences for further info...

Our Goals:

  • To educate both members and non-members about ancient and modern polytheist religions
  • To increase awareness of polytheism within the pagan community, the interfaith community and amongst the wider public.
  • To act as a networking/social organisation, helping to establish local polytheist groups and national gatherings.

What Do We Mean by Polytheist?

  • a) We recognise many gods and do not deny the existence of gods from religions other than our own.
  • b) We see our gods as individual deities, not as 'aspects of the Divine' nor as 'avatars of the Godhead'.
  • c) We see our gods as having independent existences outside of our own psyches rather than being unconscious archetypes.
  • d) Our gods may appear to us as male, female, or of no fixed gender.

If you consider yourself a polytheist, and agree with the statements above, why not join us?

Issues 3 and 4 have been sent to members in hard copy and 5 is on the way.
